This envelope contains a single booklet of 5 or 25 leaves, in loose or transfer format. The thickness is indicated with its relative weight and amounts to 13 grams per 1000 leaves.
The loose leaf is recommended both for the decoration of inlaid surfaces, mainly with the use of the bole and the water gilding technique, and for the gilding of smooth surfaces with the oil gilding technique.
Transfer leaf differs from loose leaf in that it is attached to a thin tissue paper backing that extends beyond the booklet, making handling easier and speeding up application. This type is always used for oil gilding and is recommended exclusively for decorating smooth surfaces or for gilding intended for exterior use.
