About Us

History of the Giusto Manetti Brand

The gilding tradition of the Manetti family dates back to the 16th century, when they began the noble craft of gold beating in Florence.
As early as 1602, Matteo Manetti worked on gilding the golden sphere atop the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
Over the following centuries, a small workshop grew into a renowned factory whose gold leaf adorns landmarks in Paris, New York, London, and Moscow.
Today, after more than 400 years and 15 generationsGiusto Manetti Battiloro is a global leader in the production of genuine gold and silver leaf—combining Florentine craftsmanship with innovation and a passion for excellence.

The history of Giusto Manetti Battiloro includes the restoration of the same work of art over more than four centuries—the golden sphere atop the dome of the Florence Cathedral.
The first was gilded in 1602 by Matteo Manetti (2nd generation), and in 2002 it was restored using gold leaf produced by Giusto Manetti Battiloro (15th generation).
